Retiree Benefits
The Retirement Board of the Cook County Pension Fund (The Fund) administers the retirement benefits provided in Article 9 & 10 of the Illinois Pension Code.
The Fund provides benefits to those that meet the eligibility requirements. The list of benefits available include: Retirement Annuity (also commonly called a Pension), Survivors’ Annuity, Group Health Benefits, and Death Benefit.
- Retirement Annuity The Benefit is available to those that meet minimum age and service requirements and have severed employment with Cook County or the Forest Preserve. The annuity is a monthly payment that is usually payable for the lifetime of the retiree.
- Survivors’ Annuity The Benefit is available in the event of a retiree or employee’s death. An annuity is payable to the eligible surviving spouse or surviving child under the age of 18.
- Group Health Benefits Eligible annuitants and their dependents are offered a choice of providers for coverage.
- Death Benefit One time payment of $1,000.00 is payable to a retiree or employee’s estate or named beneficiaries in the event of a retiree’s death.
