If you are eligible for retiree medical coverage when you retire, but choose not to elect coverage at that time, you may waive coverage for yourself and any eligible dependents. If you have a need for coverage in the future, you can enroll at that time.
If you have lost coverage from another source, such as a spouse’s medical plan, you will be allowed to enroll (or re-enroll) after you submit your proof of loss of the other coverage to Cook County Pension Fund (CCPF). CCPF must receive this proof within 30 days of the loss of coverage.
All members who are eligible for retiree medical coverage can submit an application to re-enroll or make changes during CCPF’s annual Open Enrollment period. Complete the Health Benefits Enrollment Change Form to submit changes to your coverage.
